A Nigerian court has postponed a decision on a bail application by Binance's head of financial compliance, Tigran Gambaryan. The next bail hearing has been scheduled for October 9th. Gambaryan's lawyer filed a new application for bail on medical grounds, stating that the executive has needed surgery since July 18th and requires urgent assistance that cannot currently be provided in prison.
The court was told that Gambaryan has developed malaria, pneumonia, tonsillitis and complications from a herniated disc in his back while in prison, which has left him nearly unable to walk. He was seen limping into court on Monday after being denied a wheelchair.
The family spokesperson told CoinDesk that Gambaryan's health has been worsening since he was jailed earlier this year. The postponement of the bail decision is a setback for the executive, who is seeking release on medical grounds to receive the treatment he requires.
