CleanSpark, a leading provider of sustainable bitcoin mining and energy solutions, announced the acquisition of seven bitcoin mining facilities in the Knoxville, Tennessee area for a total cash payment of $27.5 million. The combined operating hashrate of the facilities is expected to reach 5 exahashes per second (EH/s) once the latest generation S21 Pro miners are installed, representing a 22% increase in CleanSpark's current hashrate.

The seven sites, ranging from 10 MW to 20 MW in size, will be integrated into CleanSpark's growing mining operations. CEO Zach Bradford stated that the company's "timing of the market on mining server purchases intentionally locked in low prices" allowing them to take advantage of opportunities like this acquisition and immediately fill the acquired data center space.

This transaction follows CleanSpark's recent GRIID acquisition and closing in Wyoming, demonstrating the company's continued execution of its growth strategy in the bitcoin mining sector. The addition of these new facilities is expected to help CleanSpark achieve its goal of 37 EH/s in hashrate before the end of 2024.
