Chainalysis, a blockchain data platform, has released its annual Crypto Adoption Index for 2024, revealing that India and Nigeria have retained their positions as the top two countries in the world for grassroots crypto adoption.
The report highlights that within the Central & Southern Asia and Oceania (CSAO) region, Indonesia has the highest year-over-year growth at nearly 200% and the highest cryptocurrency value received, at approximately $157.1 billion.
To further boost the CSAO region, seven of the top 20 countries for crypto adoption are listed as CSAO countries, indicating the growing prominence of the region in the global crypto ecosystem.
While the list is dominated by developing countries, the report also includes several developed nations such as the US, Russia, UK, Canada, South Korea, and China, showcasing the widespread global adoption of cryptocurrencies.
