The Sandbox, a leading Metaverse platform, has announced that India has become its largest market for content creators, with over 66,000 creators on the platform. This surpasses the number of creators in the U.S. (59,989) and Brazil (25,335). The growth in India was propelled by projects run directly by The Sandbox or with its Indian venture, BharatBox, which is partially backed by the Indian crypto exchange CoinDCX.

The Sandbox co-founder Sebastien Borget explained that the company's plan to focus on India, announced in December, has been a success, with the platform now targeting 1 million users in India within the next two years. The Sandbox has run various boot camps and education programs in the country, either directly with BharatBox or with partners like CoinDCX, to drive this growth.

While The Sandbox raised $20 million at a $1 billion valuation earlier this year, the company's Indian venture, BharatBox, was designed to be "self-sufficient and autonomous," capable of generating its own revenue. Borget emphasized that the Sandbox has proven that blockchain projects can be successful not just in the tech workforce, but also in the content and entertainment sectors in India.
