Ripple Co-Founder and Executive Chairman Chris Larsen is among the 88 corporate leaders who have endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to be the next U.S. president, according to a letter reported by CNBC. This endorsement comes as Ripple has emerged as one of the biggest donors in the 2024 U.S. elections, though Larsen's choice may be at odds with the company CEO Brad Garlinghouse's support of Senate Republicans.
While Larsen joined the letter backing Harris, other high-profile CEO's from companies like Yelp, Box, and Snap have also signed on. Ripple and Garlinghouse, however, have targeted prominent Democrats in their campaign contributions, with the majority of the company's contributions going to pro-crypto super PACs that support candidates from both major parties.
Notably, Ripple has been among the chief backers of the Fairshake political action committee, which is focused on getting crypto-friendly candidates elected, contributing about $48 million to influence the 2024 elections. Yet, in one key situation, Ripple's giving has leaned towards the Republican side, with Garlinghouse personally donating $50,000 to a super-PAC aimed at building a Republican majority in the Senate.
